The Holy Smokes BBQ contest that determines the best church BBQ team in the Diocese will be held on Saturday, November 6th at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in High Springs, Florida. The contest will be limited to the first ten teams that register and must be affiliated with Episcopal churches in the Diocese of Florida. The entry fee is $25 per team. There will be a continental breakfast for teams Saturday morning. Teams will provide their own meats, chicken thighs and spareribs either baby back or St. Louis style. The event coincides with the High Springs community celebrating the 125th anniversary of St. Bartholomew’s serving the community. There will be a festival with music and activities on the church grounds. The small community of High Springs has restaurants, lodging, and a lot of interesting antique shops. A confirmation service is being planned for Sunday, November 7th at 9:30 am in the historic sanctuary. Mark your calendar.
