Meet and Greets

Three Meet and Greets with our bishop nominees will take place across the diocese this August, providing opportunities for diocesan members to meet the nominees in person and hear their responses to questions in facilitated breakouts.

The schedule for Meet and Greets is as follows:

  • Monday, August 17 – Christ Church, Ponte Vedra Beach
  • Wednesday, August 19 – Holy Trinity, Gainesville
  • Friday, August 21 – Holy Comforter, Tallahassee

All members of the diocese are welcome and encouraged to attend any or multiple Meet and Greets. We ask that you pre-register, so we will know how many to expect at each one.

All of the sessions will be recorded and available on the diocesan website and YouTube channel to be viewed before the election.

Click the button below to register by Friday, August 14.

Whether you can attend a Meet and Greet or not, you may submit a question by Friday, August 14.

Meet and Greet Facts, Answers, and Questions

Meet and Greets are a series of open meetings where you can meet and greet the nominees for our next bishop, pray together, and hear the nominees answer questions.

We will have three Meet and Greets throughout the diocese during the third week in August. The schedule for Meet and Greets is as follows:

  • Monday, August 17
    • Christ Church, 400 San Juan Dr., Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082
  • Wednesday, August 19
    • Holy Trinity, 100 NE 1st St. , Gainesville, FL 32601
  • Friday, August 21
    • Holy Comforter, 2001 Fleischman Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32308

A casual reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Then, starting promptly at 6:15 p.m., we will gather in the sanctuary for prayer and instructions. Next, we will break out into several rooms where one nominee will come in at a time and answer questions posed by a facilitator. Each candidate will rotate through all the rooms. The evening will end with prayer around 8:45 p.m.

Yes. Here is the link to register. You are welcome to attend more than one Meet and Greet.

You are invited to submit a question between now and midnight on August 14 using the form above. While we will do our best to get as many questions answered as possible, similar questions may be combined.

Each of the Meet and Greets will be video recorded and posted at DioceseFl.org/Bishop-Election and on YouTube soon after the last one on August 21. None will be livestreamed.

You do not need to be a delegate to attend a Meet and Greet. All members of our diocese are encouraged to attend to learn about the nominees for bishop.

The Meet and Greets afford everyone in our diocese an opportunity to get to know the nominees for our next bishop. While non-delegates may not have a vote, their voices and opinions are an essential part of the process of electing a new bishop. Delegates are meant to be representatives of the people in our diocese. Informed non-delegates are in a position to enhance the understanding of delegates who will vote.

Every parish in our diocese has delegates from the clergy and the laity who are elected by the parish and granted voice and vote at the electing convention. You may talk to your parish priest and/or the delegates who were elected at your parish annual meeting earlier this year.
