An Update on Our Assisting Bishops

Dear Diocese of Florida,

We are excited to welcome two new assisting bishops who will be supporting our Diocese: the Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin S. Holcomb from the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida, and the Rt. Rev. Dr. Douglas F. Scharf from the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida.

Bishop Holcomb and Bishop Scharf will officially become assisting bishops of our Diocese on October 1. They will primarily serve in important advisory roles as we continue our bishop search and election processes. You may read a joint statement here.

A Thank You to the Rt. Rev. Scott Benhase

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Bishop Benhase, who completes his responsibilities as an assisting bishop to our Diocese on September 30.

Bishop Benhase has played an instrumental role since beginning his support of our Diocese nearly two years ago. He has visited many parishes, facilitated ordinations, and provided pastoral support at regional gatherings and clericus meetings. He also served as an important consultant to the Standing Committee.

Many thanks to Bishop Benhase for his service as an assisting bishop to our Diocese!
