2026 Annual Report for Deacons Over 72 Requesting Assignment For a One-Year License in the Diocese of Florida

Please fill out and submit the form below to request renewal of your license to function as a deacon in the Diocese of Florida and/or to remain in your present tenure for up to, but not exceeding, 12 months. You are also certifying compliance with the completion of required training in the prevention of sexual misconduct against both children and adults. In addition to submitting this form, you are also required to provide a letter making your licensing request. A sample letter can be found below. Annual reports are due no later than March 1, 2026.

Canon III Sec. 7. On reaching the age of seventy-two years, a Deacon shall resign from all positions of active service in this Church, and the resignation shall be accepted. The Bishop may, with the consent of the Deacon, assign a resigned Deacon to any congregation, other community of faith or ministry in another setting, for a term not to exceed twelve months, and this term may be renewed.

SECTION 4. Cure. For the purposes of this Canon 1, "cure" refers to the leadership and pastoral responsibility undertaken by clergy within the Diocese. Clergy with cure include: Clergy who are heads of diocesan congregations and ministries who are canonically resident or licensed by the Ecclesiastical Authority; full and part-time associate priests who participate in a minimum of 12 Eucharists per year in the Diocese and are canonically resident by the Ecclesiastical Authority; deacons assigned to the diocesan congregations and ministries by the Ecclesiastical Authority; and military chaplains canonically resident in this Diocese.
